30 Days of Angel - Day Eight

Stayed up late last night working on a fic for [livejournal.com profile] angryscientist and I have to say, I'm having a lot of fun writing it. Hopefully I will get it done by next weekend. My first intentional cracky fic, lol.

And thanks to whoever nommed Like an Animal for best pwp/kink at the....I'm so bad with names...No Rest for the Wicked Awards? I'm flattered, especially since that fic is four years old and buried in my LJ. Glad it's still doing it for some people. :D

Okay, so, on with the meme.

Fred and Gunn. Not because of the characters themselves - mostly not – but because I detested the idea that the only reason they were together was to make things more angsty for Wesley, to complete his creeper act. It broke up Gunn and Wesley’s friendship and you know, I really hated seeing that. It was painful to see these two guys who used to bump fists and have elaborate hand gestures with each other, who used to take bullets for the other and sit by hospital bedsides, turn into mean ugly defensive people who tore each other down and resented each other. They never got that friendship back, it was ruined. And Gunn and Fred broke up anyway, just like every other couple on a Whedon show, so it was for nothing in the end.

There were other, way more interesting women Gunn could have hooked up with, whom he would have played off better. Gwen. But mostly Ann. They had an energy and a wicked chemistry in their scenes together, and she and Gunn knew each other at a deeper level, understood each other. That would have been a ship I could have been enthusiastic about. I always got the sense that Fred was just a prize that got won, and that was boring.

Yeah, that’s really all I have to say about that.

Catching up on comments is my plan for today. That and laundry.

Livin' la vida loca, baby. :D

SOOOO obvious. Ann is one of the most interesting characters ever, to me. Her background, before Chanterelle, is a bit of a mystery and her experiences in LA, her life-altering encounter with Buffy - symbolically taking her name and therefore her strength - and what she does in LA....gah. Such wasted potential.

Especially how she and Gunn knew each other, connected...the fact that the last thing he does before the fight in NFA is to go see her. Oh, that scene touched me so much, so much.

Anyway, as usual, I can't wait to read your thoughts.
