I bought Btvs S4 today!
::does the dance of joy::
Not the most fantastic of overall story arcs ever, but
Squee!
It has Something Blue, and Harsh Light of Day (has anyone noticed how much Parker looks like Xander?), Superstar, Hush, and Restless.
Spike's forefinger making its way down the center of Betty's chest.
Fyarl!Giles chasing Maggie Walsh down the street before jumping back in the Citron.
Fuffy rewiring Spike's slayerkink.
The awesome lines that come from Tara's mouth when the First Slayer uses her to speak to Buffy.
Angel calling Riley boy. Mmmm. No, not a slashy sound. I only slash intermittedly, such as Clex (because really, you'd have to strain your imagination to see any het in that show) or (and this is Lostakasha's fault) Booth/Hodgkins. But anytime Angel gets all vampy and possessive, I purr.
And there may be some clawing of the furniture.
Anyway
Weeeee!
And we get to see Giles sing three times, and say the best line of the whole season outside Restless -
"Xander, don't speak Latin in front of the books".

It was during Superstar. Xander was saying something about how doing spells wasn't as easy as picking up a book and muttering a phrase -
and he picked up a book and randomly started reading Latin from it and the book caught fire, and after he puts it out by shutting it, Giles says that line in the most dry manner outside of Britain. It was great. Jane Espensen can write comedy like no other writer.
And yeah, S4 was overall crappy due to the Initiative thing and Riley. I didn't dislike Riley, I just didn't find him interesting. Not until he started paying vamps to bite him. Then of course, he left. And Adam wasn't the most charismatic of Big Bads. But the individual eps were stood out. It's weird.
