Old Skool fanfic rec

Of the C/A variety, of course.

On the eve of this most fattening of holidays, I offer to all the C/A shippers on my flist this old skool fic by Florrie, one of the OS (original shippers) of Cordelia/Angel (she's also a mod at Stranger Things). It's called Flying with Turkeys and the basic premise is Cordelia sends Angel to the supermarket for supplies the day before Thanksgiving. Given that Angel is a 'bite or avoid' kind of vampire, this fic is ridiculously cute.

So there's this really cool comm -

womenlovefest - that's hosting a 7 day 'thon called We Love The Women Fandom Hates. There are a lot of characters there, which is awesomely gratifying because damn, sometimes I think fandom loves to hate women as a rule.

Anyway, the rules are simple - from Sept 9 through 16 (though I believe this is based on London time so it may have started in some parts), make something in your LJ or Tumblr or whatnot for the character(s) you love, go to the comm, find the tag for the character, and post a link to your entry as a comment under that character's masterpost.

They have a post for rules if you need more info.

As you can see from the banner, I'm in this for Cordelia Chase - Mean Girl, Vision Girl, and all the things in-between Bitch and Saint. She's all those and more. I love her. If you love her too, post something everyday of the 'thon and link to it in her masterpost here:

Reccing for newbies

hannasus commented to me recently and that made me go back and read one of her fanfics, of the best pieces of fanfic I've ever encountered. It just happens to be a C/A fic, post You're Welcome. I'm reccing it again in case the newbies to the C/A ship haven't run across it yet.

It's beautiful and spare and....if anyone's ever lost anyone beloved to them....it rings with truth and grief.

hannasus did good when she wrote this and she deserved every bit of feedback she got - and still gets, nearly five years after writing it.

I love the Five Things fic genre.

Er, it's a genre now, right?

Anyway, It's mostly Cordy/Angel and one Buffy/Faith, and they're written by

xlivvielockex, whom I'm beginning to think of as the Queen of Five Things. So I'd thought I'd pimp them so she'd get some love for them. They're all awesome, some heartbreaking enough to make you catch your breath, some hot enough to steam up your LCD screen.
