Ugh

Last night I kept having multiple dreams of finding my sleeping daughter outside the house, and no matter how many times I brought her in, I kept waking up and finding her outside again, or sleeping next to an open French door with something lurking out there in the dark and the cold.

This morning I woke up with a bad enough sinus headache that I'm staying home. I seriously debated taking the girl to school just because I don't want to let her out of my sight, but common sense has prevailed.

Yeah, dreams like that can go straight back to hell where they belong.

Gotta love those pregnancy nightmares. I had a couple of doozies, though I can't remember the specifics now. Just that they scared me half silly.

I never had nightmares when I was pregnant before. It was after she was born that I started to dream about hands reaching through the walls for her and like last night, finding her outside (with the monsters) instead of inside (safe and warm).

Last time I blamed the post-pregnancy hormone dump, where most women get anxious about whether they could care for their baby, I felt that I wouldn't be able to protect her from anything that might threaten her. I would literally hold her and sit on the couch shaking until Andrew got home at night. Now I guess it's just parenthood in general that scares the bejeesus out of me.

It's hormones, rest assured. I always have bad dreams when I'm pre-menstrual. And OMG the worst dream I ever had was shortly after Griffin was born, when I dreamed the Devil was coming for me. I literally woke up gasping in terror. And I don't even believe in him.
