Bits n' pieces
Nov. 25th, 2005 05:09 pmThanksgiving was great - I spent it at my brother's up the street. My brother and husband watched The Game while I downloaded about 20 songs and burnt them to CDs. My sis-in-law did the cooking, a fact I was totally okay with. Cooking is fun, but not when there are four hungry adults and two absolutely ravenous kids waiting for the end result.
Then I came home and listened to the CDs for the next six or so hours while I wallowed at ST, reading Psychofilly's fic. It rocked like a rocking thing. Her fic, the music.
Tonight, I've got Starlet2367's stuff in sight. Sanguis, Beacon, Amor Fati, Heat Stroke...it's ALL good.
I was at B&N today. Crowded, yes, and way too many teenaged girls than I'm comfortable being around. They are Id personified, spilling their emotions, every single one of them, all over the place. When I'm around them, I feel like apologizing to every adult who knew me at 14.
I noticed a lot of 'erotic' romances on the shelves. One book had a heroine that sounded so much like Cordelia Chase, I briefly wondered if the author was a fic writer. I know Jennifer Crusie adores Miz Chase, and that makes me squee because her writing is da bomb. Her talent is comedic angst, and sharp, SHARP dialogue. Read her and weep at the talent. I do. Then I wonder if she's one of the talented writers online who keep my C/A love alive. I mean, it was getting pretty common in the Xenaverse, right?
Also, what the hell is up with all the 'vampire' books? I counted at least 5 with vampires as a theme. I thought that had died out a couple of years ago. Before Buffy, I would have eaten it all up with a spoon, and now, I'm eh. When I see tortured, lonely vampires longing for a particular female, I see it through Cordy's eyes, and then it's not so...sexay. Mostly I go 'pfft, snap out of it, Mr. Depresso, heroes don't sit on their asses.' When the object of their obsession start resembling Queen C on a mission, then I'll pick 'em up again, deal? Deal.
And I guess that's enough rambling, I suppose.
