samsom: (some dreams)
Inbetween texting a friend with a new baby and making meatloaf for dinner, I found a kink meme for Fright Night at [livejournal.com profile] frightnight2011 - which is exactly what I needed. I filled a couple of prompts. I don't expect feedback as the meme seems to be a few months old, and the fic themselves are kinda meh, but I feel like I'm exercising a demon by writing them.

Don't be surprised if the characters fall into familiar lines, it's how I roll.

I watched the remake of Fright Night the other night. And twice since then....during the same night.

Um, so I liked it.

And now I kinda really want to write some fucked up Amy/Jerry fic.

But knowing me, I'm gonna probably eventually turn it into Angelus/Cordelia fic. Cuz they live underneath every creative thing I think of and produce.

But right now, I want some Amy/Jerry fucked up, dirty, painful, abusive fic.

This was unexpected.

Just read

This guy, Henry Cavill, late of The Tudors, is going to be Superman in the new movie.

Supermanish head shot

Er. I won't make a judgement until I see the movie. )

Oh God

I just caught the duet between Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan in Momma Mia, SOS?, and though I have never seen this movie and I generally do not like or want musicals in my life...I ship these two.

I think it's because they use their actual voices to sing and the song's about a love that didn't work out but they still love each other and I don't even know.

I'm getting too old for this shit. *chagrined*

Sometimes when I'm watching something on TV, I get curious about it. Tonight, it's Starship Troopers.

So I'm on Wiki, reading about the movie - plot, production, whatnot - and I get to this gem near the end of the article:

spoilers for the movie )

But I find it worth noting that Clint Eastwood's last movie was about aging, not fitting in and not liking the world in which he finds himself after the death of his wife - his human credential - where his last resort is an act that frees him, but is ultimately seen (to me) as another blip on the evening news.

Now his latest movie is Hereafter. I haven't seen this yet, I hope to tomorrow, but it seems to be an ultimately positive and reassuring look at what happens after we die.

Methinks Clint is reflecting about being in the winter of life, where you think in terms of months rather than years when looking forward, and what might come after. I'm very impressed with this, his ability to progress as a filmmaker. As much as I adore Sylvester Stallone, you can't go back again. Eastwood looks forward instead, even if it's uncomfortable.

Kudos to him.
