I spent my morning with Angel
May. 13th, 2006 01:05 pmWell, two hours anyway.
I pulled out my dusty DVD's and popped in Hero and Parting Gifts.
I've watched Hero lots of times, but this was the first time I really choked up during Doyle's death scene.
The scene where Cordy asks if Doyle would be seeing Harry again now that she was based in LA, CC did such a great job of conveying Cordelia's growing feelings for Doyle and how she sort of dreaded asking the Harry question.
Parting Gifts made me miss S1 Wes. I know a lot like him dark and hurty, but I miss bumbling, eager-to-please Watcher Wes. I liked Cordelia tempering her mean retort to Barney by apologizing to him - I think that may be the first time *ever* for her.
I *really* like the scene where Angel is telling Wes no one will be by his side because he already lost one friend, and there's Cordelia, framed in the background of his apartment, ensconced safely in his cave, his space. A visual 'she belongs to me' kind of thing. Wes is standing by, or on, the staircase, not yet allowed in.
Damn, I miss the first season.
