Three fics -
A challenge for
califi. I've typed about five pages so far, maybe six. If I could get past my innate suckage at dialogue and plotting, it'd go a lot smoother, I think.
Another C/A which was supposed to just be a small, quick little PWP in the rain that apparently begged for a morning after scene, then a next night scene. It's still growing - like a weed, dammit, splitting my hard-fought for Alone Time. This is never good.
The third is an Angelus/Cordy during S2 Btvs that I've been toying with since I saw Red Eye, and I'm pretty damn happy with what I've got so far, but it's taken third place in the Alone Time sweepstakes and who the hell do I think I am anyway, thinking I could write Angelus and do him justice? But when the bunny bites, it bites *hard* - plus it works as a prequel to a Btvs S3 C/Aish story I *need* to write. I'm a bit trepiditious about setting C/A during Btvs because...well, those years are all about the B/A love, and it's nearly impossible to find a plausible way to do C/A during that time.
But I'm going to do it anyway because I'm a stinker. :p
The fourth...it's the one I feel is the best thing I ever wrote, and I thought it was finished, but
starlet2367 challenged me to fill in the backstory more, and that's taking more time, but hopefully it'll be worth it if it lives up to the ending. Plus, I'm Kel's bitch so of course I'm going to do it.
Things I'm waiting breathlessly on:
A C/G fic from
starlet2367.
A redo of Getting To Know You by
califi.
A wee little drabble from
lostakasha.
Wanting:
Peach Cobbler, or Dutch Apple Crumb with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Reading:
Always Time To Die by Elizabeth Lowell. She's one of my favorite writers, has been for a few years now, but I wasn't sure I would buy another book of hers after the last one. She's a damn good writer with tightly woven plots and fleshed out characters, and she can do romance without descending into crappy prose, but her dialogue really started to put me off her writing the last few books. I think she's trying for witty, hot, and razor sharp but sometimes it comes off as two people trying to top each other verbally but saying very little underneath it all.
I have to say, though, this book hooked me before the second chapter and despite the attempt at Moonlighting-esque zingers, I'm really enjoying it.
Lawdy, I'm tired.
