I'm sure none of you wait with baited breath for my next post, but I am sorry to be so scarce all the same. Every time I think about posting, there's really nothing new to say. I work, I come home, get ready for the next day and go to sleep. I'm usually asleep by 8:30 or 9 p.m. these days. I'm fairly certain you have to be awake for post-worthy things to happen. :P
My brother has finally found himself a roommate, so his finances are going to get a little more rehabilitated, I hope. I went over last night to a house warming b-b-q. The guy he lives with is nice, very funny and welcoming. I ate some, drank root beer, and showed off my babies before heading for home again. The most social Friday night I've had in years, I think. Forgot what that was like.
We received our tax refund last week. Yay for a little extra. Went out and bought Kid 1 a Wii. *sigh* When I was her age *she said toothlessly* I was happy if I got a $20 dollar doll.
Oh times, how you've changed.
But at least I can say it'll keep her active because the whole thing is very interactive. I'm hoping to get Wii Fitness but I'm afraid I may have to fight her in a battle to the death for some screen time.
And she might win.
God. I need more coffee. *wanders off*

Date: 2009-03-01 12:06 am (UTC)LMAO! *pets you* I said this to my sister's kids yesterday while we were out shopping? And they accused me of being old.
"Frit!" Said the eldest (for that is what they call me!) "How OLD are you?! I thought only Grandparents said things like that!"
TO WHICH, HEY! :p *hugs theee* The Wii-Fit is awesome, awesome fun but I don't think you'll get much time on it. ;)

Date: 2009-03-01 01:03 am (UTC)Still, it's nice to be in a position to get her some of the things that other kids have. :D
And your icon is so wrong, but so very, very funny. :P

Date: 2009-03-01 06:24 am (UTC)This has nothing to do with you (because you're not irresponsible), but I get upset when my poverty-level relatives get like $6K back in taxes and blow it all on games, TVs, vacations, etc. when they can't even pay their heating and water bills. Oh, yeah, and they can't give me a cent to help pay for their grandmother's funeral or headstone. Um, yeah. Bitter, party of one. Plus, they have kids that will never go to college because their parents were selfish kids themselves. /rant

Date: 2009-03-01 06:54 am (UTC)I get what you're saying. If I couldn't pay my bills, I wouldn't have considered it. But our bills are paid, and it's a matter of survival for the kidlet. She's surrounded by friends who parents own a different SUV every other year and take boats to the lake. She plays with this stuff at their houses and then comes home and asks when we're getting one. It sucks, but I gotta even things up for her where I can.
The Wii fit may kick my ass, but I need to try. It'll probably turn out like Tai Bo, but it'll be fun for a little while.

Date: 2009-03-01 07:05 am (UTC)I understand having to get your kid stuff other kids have and if you can afford it, that's great. But these fools just aren't grown up yet. They live for today and never think about tomorrow much less their kids' futures. Makes me ill that their kids won't be any better off than they are.

Date: 2009-03-02 05:24 am (UTC)<<< Wants a Wii so bad.
But alas hubby says no. That we have to the "right" thing and pay off our SUV with the lovely tax refund we got this year.
*shrugs* oh well.
Though I am pissed because he pays out more in a year for his stupid EverQuest account than one system would cost.
I did get the new-er vehicle this time. Can't complain there. (but I had to have babies to get it. Safe vehicle to cart around precious cargo. )
oo oooo speaking of babies. Nicholas is two months today and day before yesterday he laughed. So very adorable
