Today my baby boy is 1 year old!

I am incredibly happy, because he's healthy and thriving and a million other things that are of the good. I am also a bit melancholy, because he's my last one and he's getting older. Waaaa!

Today we're all going to the beach, to introduce him to the water, and when we're burnt and tired we'll come home to cake and presents. I decided against a party. I know that's really odd, but it's his first birthday, his only first birthday, and I didn't want to share it or get distracted hosting a party. Is that selfish? Probably, but I've always been selfish with my babies.

Awww, that is adorable. I don't think you need a party for one year. He won't remember it so do something you will remember, a nice family day out together. :)

I think big parties for any kids before they start really socializing is silly. Small parties with the relative kids when they're small and can play with them are okay, but big to-dos where there's one 1-year old and 37 adults is of the stupid, IMO. A cake, some photos and that's all you need. :)

I am soooo out of it. BUT! I'll be back next week. Things are going well and I am getting caught up on a lot. I have your last three stories still open in my browser waiting to be read... *sigh* But, like I said, things will be calming down soon :D
