You know how sometimes when you watch an older movie, say from the early 1990s, you will recognize someone who's gone on to be well known later on?

I hit the goldmine with Beethoven, my daughter's movie de jeur. I've spotted Oliver Platt, Stanley Tucci, David Ducovny, Patricia Heaton, and Greg Kinnear.

I like Stanley Tucci, he tends to play these characters that make me feel like I've slipped into warm slippers when I watch them. Especially Julie and Julia. That movie is such a fun movie to spend a couple of hours with....and, you know, it hit my food porn button like crazy.

Meanwhile.

The girl I work with, Crazy Bitch, was telling me today about a French movie she was watching. She ended up not liking it when she realized that one of the characters was being played by Jodie Foster. She doesn't like Jodie Foster. At all. Why? Because while she was "okay" in Foxes, CB didn't like her character in The Accused.

Because she didn't like the girl's 'masculine' attitude.

I had a second to boggle at this before she went on to tell me that she doesn't like it when actresses act or play 'tough', which she apparently considers to be a purely masculine trait.

*sigh*

I have to find a way to avoid these conversational traps, I really do.

Hmmm. One is left to wonder if your co-worker's dislike really stems from Jodie Foster's sexual orientation rather than her acting.

That would have been my initial impression but we have some gay and lesbian workers on our floor and she genuinely doesn't have an issue with it, much to my gobsmacked surprise. She simply does not care for WOMEN.

Can I just say how much I love Stanley Tucci? That man is an absolutely amazing actor and I love him in Julie & Julia. &hearts I also loved him dearly in The Devil Wears Prada. His interactions with Meryl Streep in both movies just kills me. I love their chemistry.

As to your co-workers, I don't even know what to say. It will never cease to surprise me that people think in that way at all.

He and Meryl were magical together in Julie and Julia!

My co-worker is beyond description.

I seriously LOVE that movie! I watched it the last time in the middle of the night and it was so comforting.

Plus, you know, FOOD.

Cara/Triana hatesex?? Oh, what if Angel met Triana?? Wouldn't that be totally wild? Cordelia plus leather and an S&M bent? Hubba-hubba.

This time he's the one that gets sucked into another dimension, and when he comes back, he's got scratches on his back, a new taste for leather whips and he can't stop giving Cordelia oddly intense looks.

WRITE THIS!

Mascu— *twitches* You know what, nope; not even going there.

Stanley Tucci! ♥ I haven't seen him in a lot, but I've loved him to bits in everything that I did see of him.

I actually say this a lot to myself when she goes on a tangent. There are literally conversational landmines I have to nagivate every stinkin' day with her. It's exhausting.

Stanley Tucci has a sister that appeared on Another World in the early 90s,and that's how I always remember him. /random
