So, I'm behind.
21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
I have written, to my knowledge at least, two sequels. One was to Angel, Hear My Cry, which was a lot darker than the original. The original was about hurt and comfort, but the second one was more of a traditional Halloween fic. A little scarier. And basically, I set it up as a sequel because I was writing a smut (Halloween) fic but I was too lazy to set up the sexual and emotional history I needed in order to write the smut I wanted. I needed them to already have a connection so I went looking and found the best fic to continue.
That sounds kind of horrible, I know, but…well….it’s my fic, so I can do what I want. :)
The second one was Brand New World, a prequel to The Way It Has To Be, both of them blood fics. I wrote the sequel as a prequel strictly because so many of the comments I received asked about how such an arrangement started between Cordelia and Angel. It was the only time I felt like I needed to fill in the backstory more.
Otherwise, I never really thought about writing sequels to my fics. They always felt finished when I was done and I am always thinking about the next shiny thing I can twist and pull out of my head.
22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
I have participated in a handful of ficathons, two specific to my ship – The Stranger Things Halloween ficathon and the Stranger Things Valentine’s Day Smutathon. These two I have signed up for every year since ’07 or ’08. The inaugural Halloween ficathon will always be my most favorite experience and memory because we had so many fic writers who hadn’t written C/A in a long time come ‘out of retirement’ to participate in it. It produced some amazing and varied fic starring my two favorite characters and it gave everyone a chance to reconnect, like a wonderful family reunion.
I’ve also participated in the Lynnevitational twice when it was going on. I felt especially proud of being in that one because I was invited based on my writing, and the fic I wrote my second year became one of my favorites.
I love being a part of ficathons if I like the parameters, aka “not too many rules to plow through”. I adore comment ficathons because they are so impromptu and the prompts are really inspired sometimes. They are really good with making me reach for something quickly.
What’s a Big Bang?
23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
I post to my journal,
ca_atlast, and
fantas_magoria the most. But I don’t always post every fic I write to all three places. It depends on what I wrote and why I wrote it. I don’t have a site for my fic because I figure that was what my LJ was for but just the other day I wondered if I should try to set up a site for my Persephone fics. They’re all in my journal and they’re tagged but even I have a slight problem accessing them when I want to go back over them and I thought maybe a fiction site would be more easily navigated because I’d have them all visible, all in a row – like those old Angelfire sites. Without the pop-up ads, LOL.
