Here's the deal - Friday night we had a power outage in my neck of the woods, and when the power was restored, it blew my modem to hell. I have been cut off from the internet (except when I'm at my brother's, which I am right now) since then. Heh. It's not as bad as the last time. No jitters or outright hair pulling. I'm dealing. I plan on being back by Wednesday, so if I haven't responded to anything when I usually do, this is why.

Meanwhile, I managed to get some more work done on Oblivious. I know one person who'll be happy to hear that, and I'm watching and absorbing Superman Returns so I can write and get that monkey off my back, and of course, jonesing for some good fic.

::eyes fandom::

Don't do anything interesting until I get back, okay?

Noooo! Don't go. You're one of the only sources of almost daily C/A fic around. I'll die I tells ya!

Don't do anything interesting until I get back, okay?

Okay. I'll hold off doing that thing with my tongue until you get back.

So what was the thing with the tongue? Thing?

And thanks for putting a positive spin on the fact that I like to spam with c/a:D

"Angel!"

Angel closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, Cordelia stood on the other side of his desk, hands on her hips, looking more perturbed then he'd seen her in nearly twelve hours.

"Yes, Cordelia?" He replied calmly, hoping she just wanted to borrow his pen or something.

"You're going to have to post a memo about proper behavior in the workplace."

She paused and he quirked an eyebrow, waiting for more.

"Well?" She demanded.

He put the book down on the desk and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.

"Well what, Cordelia?"

She huffed.

"Doyle! Hello? It's bad enough he comes in smelling like cheap gin and looking like the losing end of a bar brawl, but I just caught him watching me putting on my make up."

"You're putting make up on? At work?"

She looked at him like he was a dumbass.

"Angel, don't be a dumbass, do you want me to be late?"

He opened his mouth to answer but she cut him off with one hand held up.

"The point is, I don't think that stalking's appropriate office behavior. Do you?"

Angel tried to remember the last time someone asked his opinion on anything other than the best way to torture, maim and kill, and came up short.

"Come on, Cordelia. Don't you think you're being a little hard on Doyle? I mean, he's got a crush on you." He shrugged. "I think it's kinda cute."

Her eyes widened in surprise and she looked panicked.

"Oh no, hell no. I am not going down that road again. No way."

"What road?" He frowned, genuinely confused.

"The Xander road!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms wide. "God Angel! What is wrong with me that I keep appealing to lower class men?"

He didn't say anything but his gaze took the long way down her body and back up to her face.

"Not a thing wrong that I can see." He said.

She blinked in surprise, and he could smell the blood as it rose to the surface of her skin.

"Glad to see you aren't totally blind, broody boy." Her tone was soft, her words lacking their usual bite.

"I'll talk to Doyle, okay?" He replied, just as softly.

She quirked her mouth to the side and slid him a look.

"That's okay, Angel. I mean, like you said, he's pretty harmless, right?"

He considered her for a moment, blinking when the silence stretched a little too long between them.

"Right." He whispered. "Harmless."

She smiled and walked out of his office, leaving him to stare after her.

Then he picked up his book and began to read again.

LOL! Nice ass pull!! I loved the way Angel always checked out Cordy head to toe and no one would say a thing about it. The man had it bad from day one I tell ya!

"You're putting make up on? At work?"

She looked at him like he was a dumbass.

"Angel, don't be a dumbass, do you want me to be late?"

Men are so stupid.

Okay, you can have a lick and twist for that. Enjoy!

Oh, I'm enjoying alright.

Anyway, I think Angel checking Cordelia out went further back than Ats s1.

Back a day early and a lot poorer. Eeep.

I worked on another three or four pages of Oblivious the other day and half a page last night. It's coming easier, though I have no idea why. I guess writing is like an orbit, it comes back around eventually.

I think I've read before that being without the internet, without fandom, is like losing a sense. It wasn't just not being able to read the sites and LJ, it was being unable to look up an episode guide for Law and Order when I wanted to, finding lyrics and music when I wanted to. It just beyond he telling of it.

You know, I heard on the news last week about a tornado in London, but I swear, I thought I was just hearing wrong, because dude, a tornado in London? Whoa.

Hmmm... this is kind of weird. Power outage seems to be THE in thing at the moment. I had that on Saturday evening. My modem's fine though. :(

Come back soon. :)

::sigh::

So happy to be back, yish.

We don't have a lot of power outages, and it was funny because this power outage happened after the storm passed. And really, it was rain, but it was mostly wind. Big, blowy wind. We figure the modem was just due to die out, since it's over two years ago. It just needed the push.

Again, good to be back.
