samsomI hate today. I really do. It was all just so abstract until last night, and then the specials started. I watched some of it, because it's the only way I can think of to honor the dead, sort of like retroactively sitting shiva, even though I'm not Jewish. But it's so hard, because it was real, and the thought of the interruption of all those lives, the terror of their last hour...sigh. I don't really have the words.
I wanted to post about the weather, and how it good it feels right now. The summerlong heat wave has broken and the temperature cooled to the low 80's. There's a slight snap to the air that is so very refreshing after being beaten to death by 100+ degree weather for three months. Father of the Bride I&II is playing on HBO Family and it has rounded off a good weekend. We spent yesterday at the beach, just to better enjoy the cooler weather, and my husband picked a flower and gave it to our daughter. She clutched it in her two-year-old hand and ran down the plaza that bordered the beach, my husband in hot pursuit.
It was so Rockwellian that I very nearly gagged.
