My daughter finally figured out she can get out of bed by herself.

So far, she's been out here for three separate drinks of water, two trips to the bathroom and one memorable "I forgot to put my dvds away."

Sheesh.

She keeps this up, and I'm going to staple her blankets to the mattress with a small hole for breathing.

~~

I'm about three pages into my fic for the Strangers ficathon (I have no idea how to do the word count thing), and already I've narrowly missed diving into the smut. Cripes. You know what will be the scary thing?

If I finish this pup in time for trick or treating.

Did I mention we have twenty three writers participating?

Oct. 31st is gonna rock.

Griffin is currently strapped to the crib mattress in his Safe-T-Sleep (or straightjacket, as my mother calls it) because he won't stop rolling and getting stuck on his tummy. I dread the day he learns to get out of bed!

23 writers? Wow, even if only half manage to write their fics, that'll still be an embarrassment of riches. I'm at around 3000 words now. Sadly, there is no smut in mine, so I bet nobody reads it! ;o) To do word count, just click on Tools while you have your Word doc open, and then chose Word Count from the drop-down menu.

Thanks. I always wondered how peeps counted their words. I wrote 4000 words last night but not any of it was for the h'ween fic. *headdesk*

When my daughter was Griffin's age, I had this little thing that I'd put her in the middle of - it was like a wedge, it woudn't allow her to roll onto her stomach or her back. She slept the first probably six or so months on her side. When I was pregnant, I heard not to put babies on their backs, because if they threw up, they might breathe it in, then I heard if you let them sleep on their stomachs, it might lead to suffocation. So since I was sitting there trying to figure out which position to put her in without accidently causing her death, I just decided her side was the best bet.

*frays a little at the edges*

Every time you think you have it sorted, a new study says you're doing the wrong thing. *headdesk* Griffin was rolling out of his wedge, that's why he's currently strapped to the mattress. I don't want to continue it for much longer, though.

The first night S slept in her big girl bed, she rolled right out.

I didn't sleep the rest of that night, or I slept in fits.

It's a series of graduating steps, all designed to make you unravel from nerves.

Do you ever stop unraveling? *g*

Just check on Griffin - he's turned over in his Safe-T-Sleep and is napping on his tummy for the first time since he was in his incubator, bless him. I am not alarmed, as he has fantastic head control, and a motion sensitive monitor :o)

When my parents were growing up, it was don't put your baby on their back, cause they'll die. Now it's don't put your baby on their stomach because they'll die.

No one knows yet what causes SIDS. I'm honestly thinking that it some of it has to do with the uber religious creepos who abuse their kids in the name of God. There was a group on LJ mentioned a while back. One mother decided to train her newborn to only feed 3 times a day. Dude. If you don't want to feed someone every 2 freaking hours, DON'T GET PREGNANT!!! DUH!!! I do wonder, though, if these are the same idiots who don't believe in using contraception. I can understand not believing in using contraception, but I don't understand refusing to use it even if you want to have all the sex and not get pregnant. Yes, there's abortion, but even though I'm pro-choice, I still feel that abortion is murder and shouldn't be used as a first "defense" birthcontrol if it can be helped (IE: it's fine in the case of rape where your brother did it and your parents don't believe you/won't let you take contraceptives/won't take you to the hospital/can't get your hands on the morning after pill/whatever).

I always tell myself if I have a kid, I'd tell them they can have all the sex they want, so long as they use contraceptives because I only signed on for them, not the grandkids. At least, not unless they die after they were self-supporting and all that. And I don't want to pay for their STIs/STDs. Obviously, I'd put a shitload of emphasis on the emotional impact of sex because that's more likely to come back at you these days, when all other problems with sex are either preventable (yey condoms!), treatable (if caught in time) or very expensive to treat (ie: AIDS).

No kidding. Nov is going to be a fun reading month for all of us.

I was just at AO. Lysa, thank you. I can't believe all the work you went through to get my stuff archived. You are amazing to do it. *g* And yes to your question. The fic I posted there are the most current versions.
