I cooked. I ate. I ate more.

Then, for kicks, I ate even more.

It was nice. I shipped all the food over to my brother's, for he has more room and a way better dining room table that extends. It was small this year, just me and mine and my bro and his son. And a friend of the boy's. Six people with no expectations of culinary virtuosity.

My kind of holiday, ya know?

When the first phase of eating was done, everyone retired to the living room for football and movies, and I went into my brother's bedroom with my trusty laptop and wrote more of my *cough*Halloween fic*cough*.

I've done 4475 words after rebooting the whole thing two weeks ago, and it's almost done. *crosses fingers* I may have something to post at ST by the end of this weekend. I'll be glad. I'd love to hold my head up high and finally start reading the other fic there.

Right now I'm frying potatoes for breakfast.

Next up, scrambled eggs and toast.

Hope everyone who celebrated the ritual sacrifice (with pie) had a great time and help with the dishes. Cheers!

I wish I'd had your Thanksgiving. Mine was a small apartment filled with loud kids and nowhere to escape. Plus two days of cooking in a kitchen the size of a bathroom. And, finally, a bunch of rude relatives who show up late, eat, and leave never once offering to help with the massive clean up. Not that I'm much help in that aspect since my back doesn't allow me to stand up for long so my SIL does 90% of the clean up. I don't know why I look forward to t-giving every year when I know this is how it always ends.

Seeing that you're almost finished with the Halloween fic just made my holiday. Just get that puppy done so you don't have to feel guilty any more and so you can read all the great fics you've missed!

Well, it helped that my dad backed out. He was supposed to come but of course, waited almost until the last minute, then cancelled after emailing us and saying something 'came up.' Typical of my father, but I'm glad he didn't come. Thanksgivings with him growing up were twice as bad as any typical day of the week with him, so my brother and I have come to value and cherish stress-free holiday get-togethers. Movies, food, some good joking around, that's it.

Sorry yours was loud and messy. Hopefully, the food was good. :D

And yeah, the fic. I would love to be able to post this soon, but I don't want it to suck so I've only been writing when the 'voice' is strong, instead of hurrying to finish it and have it come out mediocre.

Hola! Glad you had such a good day. I love low-expectations holidays. ;) Ours was fraught with the usual family drama, though I must say, the turkey and dressing more than made up for it.

Can't wait to read that Halloween fic, bebe! :rubs hands together gleefully:

Good turkey makes up for a lot.

This year, for the first time ever, I put the stuffing inside the bird. It felt daring. And it came out well.

Family drama is unfortunate, but I'm glad the food was good. :D

S4 Buffy is my comfort season, same as s1 Angel. No stress over any storylines like Joyce dying or Darla coming back. I can just let the dvds run, and one of my favorites ever is Pangs. So much to love about it but Anya gave me such a great alternative to plain old "Thanksgiving." Hee!
