I never had nightmares when I was pregnant before. It was after she was born that I started to dream about hands reaching through the walls for her and like last night, finding her outside (with the monsters) instead of inside (safe and warm).
Last time I blamed the post-pregnancy hormone dump, where most women get anxious about whether they could care for their baby, I felt that I wouldn't be able to protect her from anything that might threaten her. I would literally hold her and sit on the couch shaking until Andrew got home at night. Now I guess it's just parenthood in general that scares the bejeesus out of me.
