I can't believe I'm watching The Way We Were.

And liking it.

O_o

~~

Earlier, I spent four hours watching Voyager clips on YouTube.

My conclusion?

Tuvok is hot.

I'd love to buy the dvds but Paramount is on crack if they think I'm springing $100+ a season. I don't love anything that much.

Well.

Maybe Sting.

Voyager is great! A friend of hubby's had the lot on VHS, and he lent them to us. It took me until Season 4 to get into it, but then I was hooked! My favourite is the doctor - I mean "Emergency Command Hologram." *snorfle* You're right about Paramount overcharging for the DVD sets. They were specialing some of the early seasons for $65 NZ each (about $45 US) a while back, but normally they're about $150.00. Not impressed, seeing as lately I've picked up seasons of Friends and Quantum leap for $28 NZ each.

At Target, I can pick up Friends for $20 US, and at Best Buy I can get any season of Buffy or Angel for $33 US.

Paramount is drunk on its own power (20 years past expiration) if they think I'm shelling at $150 US for any season of their product.

I would love to own Voyager, because emotionally, it's the Trek I respond to, but I couldn't justify their asking price.

"Emergency Command Hologram." HEE! Don't forget the pips that pop out of his collar when he activates the program. It's Harry's favorite part. :D

I agree with your opinion of Voyager. I quite liked TNG, and tried to get into Enterprise and DS9 with no success, but Voyager was the only one I totally fanned. I think the "stranded far from home" premise gave them a family vibe the others didn't have.

I'd love to own the DVD's. Hubby's been hiring the early seasons from our version of Netflix. I shall say no more for fear of incriminating myself. *cough, cough*

Do you have Spike TV? They show, I want to say, two (or it might be three) episodes a day. My husband is a total Voyager junkie so I usually end up watching it with him. The ones they run on Spike TV are on in the afternoons/early evenings but AZ goes strange with the times on the national channels so I would check listings.

And seriously $100 for a set is just too insane. It isn't like they had to get song rights or something else to jack the price up. But that is what Netflix is for, right? LOL

I've watched all the Treks, and Voyager is my favorite - I like their journey best, and I like the most amount of characters and felt they developed the most in seven years, but for Paramount to try and gouge me out of $150 a season because of that is beyond the pale.

I get SpikeTV but I get off work at five, so by the time I get the munchkin out of school and head home, it's more than half over. For some insane reason, I still haven't invested in a Tivo, so I've missed a lot of Voyager goodness.

TiVo? What is that? LOL

I still use a good old VCR. The one in the family room for my husband's shows, the one in our bedroom for my shows.

But I will make you a deal, if my husband gets the Voyager DVDs (which I am willing to bet he will, if only from Netflix), I'll make you a copy. (That is, if you trust me enough to give me your address once I get them)

Or if you don't want to wait, I can get them for you now and just burn them off onto a data DVD to watch on your computer. They are too big for most file transfer services.

I loved Voyager. I didn't watch it first time around but caught up with it late at night in syndication and got hooked. It did take me awhile to warm up to Janeway (I've always thought that actress was too stiff fo my liking).

I had no idea the DVD sets were that much. That's almost X-Files prices! Well, that's sci-fi TV for ya - squeezing the fans out of their very last dime.

There was a marathon a few years ago, and by the time it was done, I was hooked, so I caught it when I could on rerun and managed to watch the last season and a half in the original run. I like Janeway, and I like Seven more than Kes and I like Tom and Torres and I even like them together. Could do without Chakotay, he reminds me of Riker. I love the ship and that they have a galley and a hyponics bay and that they're just huddled together, trying to get home. I like that every death matters personally to Janeway because of her decision to strand them in the Delta Quadrant. I respond the most, emotion-wise, to Voyager.

But not for a $150 a season. I'm a big nerd, but I'm not stupid about money.

Pop in an Angel DVD; you'll feel MUCH better. :-)

*g*

Didn't you know? I'm a big nerd - been watching Star Trek since the eighties. And with the advent of YouTube, I have elevated wasting time to undiscovered levels.

But yes, Angel. Maybe Eternity? Cordelia looked so cute, bringing lattes and a honkin' big cross to Rebecca's.
